MEET KURT

Kurt Calabrese is a survivor, advocate, and loving family man who wishes to dedicate his life to helping others overcome trauma and break free from the cycle of abuse. His father, Frank Calabrese Sr., and his uncle, Nick Calabrese, were both made members in the Chicago Outfit and involved in the highly-publicized Family Secrets Trial in 2007. From the time Kurt was 15, he was unwillingly brought into the world of organized crime. In 1998, due to his involvement in loansharking, Kurt took a plea deal to protect his brother, uncle, and father from harsher sentences and served 2 years in prison.

As the son of a high-profile figure in organized crime, Kurt experienced a childhood marked by violence, bullying, and abuse, which left him with deep emotional scars and a diagnosis of complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) that he deals with each day. He believes that his life experiences are able to seriously help and inspire many people, from those who are victims of bullying and abuse and individuals who struggle with mental illness to gangs and those involved in street life.

Despite his struggles, Kurt has refused to let his past define him. He found the strength to seek help and treatment, and through his own journey of healing, he discovered his passion for helping others. Today, Kurt’s ambition is to be a powerful voice for domestic violence prevention and a leading advocate for C-PTSD awareness. In this new chapter of his life, he aspires to create his own foundation with a mission to help, educate, and heal other victims of abuse who endure long-lasting effects of trauma. His resilience, loyalty, and compassion for others make him a powerful force for change and a true inspiration to all who know him.
